Richard L. Campbell, Esq.
Richard Campbell founded New Amsterdam Group (formerly The Rena Group) in 2012. He has over 30 years of legal, investment banking and wealth management experience. Prior to founding NewAm, Richard was the President of a large multinational single-family office with operating companies in several countries.
Richard started his career as a corporate finance lawyer in 1980 and practiced until 1994, during which time he was involved in several initial public offerings, mergers, acquisitions, project finance and corporate development projects. While attending law school, Mr. Campbell clerked for a Circuit Court Judge and in his final year of law school became an investment officer for Oakland County, Michigan.
For several years following his tenure as a corporate finance lawyer Richard was involved in building and selling several companies in a variety of industries. Companies in which he was active include ILS Launch (commercial satellite launch company), Corbett Technologies (IT security company), GreenStone Industries (cellulose insulation manufacture), and others.
Mr. Campbell received his Bachelor of General Studies degree from the University of Michigan, a Juris Doctorate law degree from Wayne State University, Michigan, and a Masters of Law from New York University.
David E. Fleming, Esq.
Managing Partner, General Counsel
David E. Fleming joined New Amsterdam Group in December 2013. For the prior 12 years, he was the Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Warren Resources, Inc., a NASDAQ Global Stock Markets listed energy company. While in a leadership position at Warren, he was instrumental in concluding several transactions including a $100 million initial public offering, a $500 million shelf registration and immediate follow-on equity offering of $100 million, $100 million in bond and debenture offerings, and over $550 million of senior credit facility transactions led by syndicates of major international commercial banks.
From 1999 to 2001, he was a partner with the law firm of Cummings & Lockwood, where he practiced corporate and securities law. For the nineteen years prior thereto, he practiced corporate law in New York City where his activities included lead counsel on over $300 million of private equity offerings in the real estate and energy industry, as well as on numerous initial public offerings in the real estate, energy, information technology and healthcare areas. Mr. Fleming participated in over $500 million of real estate and natural resources property acquisition and development.
Mr. Fleming received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Maryland School of Law.
Sean Mulrenan, CAIA
Sean joined New Amsterdam Group in August 2014 as Senior Associate. He has 10 years of experience in analytical roles focused on valuation, asset management, corporate finance, and financial analysis. Previously, he was an Analyst at Mount Kellett Capital Management, a $7bn multi-strategy investment firm specializing in distressed and special situations, investing in corporate and real estate opportunities. Sean worked on the Investment and Asset Management teams there, focused on sourcing and assessing investment opportunities, as well as managing and overseeing the performance and realization of portfolio company investments. Prior to Mount Kellett, Sean worked at Interactive Brokers, LLC, a leading broker-dealer, under the CFO of the brokerage business. He began his career as a Corporate Legal Assistant at Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York City.
Mr. Mulrenan received his BA in Political Economy from Williams College, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna cum Laude. He also received his MBA from NYU Stern School of Business, graduating with Honors and concentrating in Finance. He obtained his CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst) Designation in 2015.
Caroline Rolniak is an Analyst at New Amsterdam Group, participating in all aspects of the business development of New Amsterdam’s various projects. Caroline has experience evaluating businesses in her previous roles, including equity research, equity investment management, and credit trading.
Caroline received her Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from New York University.
Rodrigo Bogoricin Braga provides advisory services to New Amsterdam in Latin American client relations. Born and raised in Brazil, Mr. Bogoricin Braga moved to the United States to obtain his BS from Babson College. After obtaining his degree, he went to work for his family’s real estate asset management company out of New York. As an Asset Management Analyst he was responsible for delivering financial analysis, developing business plans to maximize asset performances and helping with the investment flows between Brazil and the US. His exposure to distinct markets such as New York, Puerto Rico, Chicago and Rio de Janeiro provides him with good cross-border insights including local market nuances. Mr. Braga is uniquely positioned to be the bridge between Latin American clients and assets in the United States.
Kevin Heaton-I3 Resources
Joint Venture Partner-Real Estate
Kevin has fifteen years of experience providing counsel to families and privately-held companies invested in real estate. Most recently his efforts have been focused on managing the intricacies of 1031 Exchange transactions as well as the acquisition and “turn-around” of underperforming real estate assets. Starting his career in 1996 as a wealth management advisor with Merrill Lynch, Mr. Heaton developed effective wealth management strategies for high net worth families and closely-held private companies, including structuring credit facilities, multi-generational transition planning, and transactional advise to families, investors, and employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs). In 2004 Kevin joined Bucephale Asset Management, a Swiss-based $250 million hedge fund of funds, where he was responsible for developing the firms’ presence in the United States. Mr. Heaton left Bucephale to become the CFO of Standard Services Corporation, a home services investment company based in Aiken, SC that spanned across three states and grew revenues from $2 million dollars in 2005 to $30 million dollars in combined annual revenues by 2007. Kevin is the founder and principal of i3, LLC, through which he continues to focus on increasing the asset values, principally in the real estate asset class, for the families and organizations he represents.
Laurence Norton has over 50 years of experience in the financial services industry. As a Senior Vice President at Shearson Lehman Bros. he held management positions in Boston, MA., San Francisco, CA., and Greenwich, CT. Following a 22 year tenure at Shearson, Mr. Norton joined Prudential Securities where he held several senior executive positions including President of the International Division as well as President of the Futures Division, representing 34 offices in 22 countries. He was a member of the firm's Operating Committee and a member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Norton left Prudential in 2001 to focus on his own investment portfolio. After a number of years as a private investor Mr. Norton joined Berwind Private Equity as a Managing Director.
Mr. Norton has been a member of the Board of Directors of several companies and is a graduate of Harvard University.
